Embroidery Advantages and Limitations
Advantages of Embroidery
"Stitching", "sew on logo", "thread logo" are just some of the terms we have heard for embroidery. Ultimately we all mean the same thing. A logo or some text applied to a garment or other material using embroidery threads.
We find that embroidery can exude professionalism and quality and so it makes a great first impression to customers and potential customers as well as friends and family.
What's more, we can take your own unique logo and turn it into an embroidered emblem to give your clothing a unique feel to them.
The advantages of embroidery is that it is durable and long lasting and is suitable to be washed at high temperatures as well as stand the heat from a domestic iron.
It works fantastically on many garments including polo shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and coveralls among other items.
Limitations of Embroidery
Gradient Colours
There are limitations to embroidery though. These include the fact that logos or designs with gradient colours may not embroider so well. When we set up a logo with gradient colours, we do so in such as way that we allow the colours to run into one another but the final result is never as seamless as a printed logo.
We would recommend that you stick to block colours in your embroidered design but, should you need some graduation, we will certainly do our best to help. Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have or pop into our store in Long Eaton, Nottingham.
Logos or Text with a Thin Outline
Another drawback we find are logos that have a thin outline in a different colour. During the embroidery process, there can be some small movements. This means that the coloured thread that should be inside the outline can sit outside of it which can look poor. We would recommend that your logos are not set-up with a thin outline.
Embroidery onto Thin Materials
Another limitation for embroidery is the range of products that can be embroidered. Embroidery is great for heavier weight garments but, when it comes to lightweight t-shirts or sportswear, the material may be too thin to handle being embroidered. Remember, when we embroider something, we are putting several thousand small holes in the garment. As a result, thin garments can be prone to ripping or tearing.
Our site has been specifically set-up so that only garments eligible for embroidery can be purchased with embroidery. Therefore, you don't need to worry about what can and can't be embroidered - we've done the hard work for you.
Overall, we find that embroidery is well liked by our customers and is usually more popular than print. This is, in part at least, down the the fact that there is a misconception that print on garments "doesn't last as long" or will "rub off". Whilst this may have been true in days gone by, print methods have really come along in recent years and they are as durable as ever.
Printed items ultimately will require a bit more taking care of but you can get some great finishes with vibrant look and different effects too.
Feel free to pop into our shop for a discussion and we will be happy to help. We are based in Long Eaton which borders Nottingham, Derby and Leicester.
